SUDDEN SUNSPOT: What a difference 48 hours can make. Only two days ago the sun was blank and calm, displaying the sort of unrelenting quiet we've come to expect from the deepest solar minimum in a century.



Then, with startling rapidity, sunspot 1024 burst onto the scene.
Unlike other recent "sun-specks", this active region is a full-fledged sunspot group with more than a dozen planet-sized dark cores, crackling with B- and C-class solar flares.
"Sunspot 1024 is putting on a spectacular show," says amateur astronomer David Tyler of Buckinghamshire UK, who caught it in mid-flare on July 5th:

Senast sädescirklarna från Avebury med budskap

May 12, 2009 Wiltshire, England - Between April 14, 2009, and May 10, 2009, eleven crop formations were reported in the yellow, flowering oilseed rape fields of Wiltshire County, England. An Australian scientist and American retired astrophysicist think some of the crop patterns could have astronomical information about a count down to increased solar flare and coronal mass ejection (CME) activity this coming July 2009, from what has been an unusually quiet sun.

The Australian scientist, who took an interest in crop formation patterns, embedded astronomical cycles and perhaps mathematical language, has been studying the patterns for about five years now and reports to a small group of us what he analyzes. But to protect his professional work, he requests anonymity.

Sädescirklar med budskap om 2012

The first part of Avebury Manor from July 15, 2008 showed our complete solar system of nine planets on an upcoming date of December 21-23, 2008, when the Mayan Long Count calendar will end. One week later on July 22, 2008, a second crop picture appeared in the same field; but no one has yet deduced the meaning of that second picture, because its symbols are so complex.

After lengthy study, it now seems that the second part was meant to tell us more about the near-future events of December 2012: not on the dates of December 21-23, but one week earlier on a new Moon of December 13. Looking first at the overall picture, we can see on the left a "bright comet" entering our solar system, and on the right an expanded view of lunar orbit near Earth:

Looking next at many small symbols near top centre, we can see the crescent symbol for Moon, lying in its twelfth month (solar or lunar) next to the same bright comet just mentioned.
